Sri Baba Shiv Ji Tiwari is one of the Holy men living in and wandering through the region of the Lalita Ghat, Varanasi in India. Holy men are revered by Hindus as representatives of gods or the Divine. Baba’s presence is at once striking, dignified, poised and radiant.
This portrait is from a series I am working on.
I painted this from one of the best photographs (by Joshua First) I’ve seen of Baba.
My hope is this portrait can invoke the energy of Divine presence for all who gaze upon him.
