The question is posed as to whether romantic love can ever be viably pursued while we are not enlightened. Isira’s response is that it inevitably will be pursued as part of our human nature, and it is a vehicle for moving towards enlightenment.
In a beautiful exploration, Isira ends by pointing to a fundamental insight – that we mistakenly assume love derives from the person towards which we feel it. This creates a mistaken sense of attachment and dependency. In practice, we are love and love derives from us. It does not need a ‘special other’. This realisation liberates us and allows us to move towards feeling love in every moment.
